Even The Rain (2010)
(También la Lluvia)
This recent feature film is set against the backdrop of the actual“Water Wars” fought against the privatization of Bolivia’s water supply by Bechtel Corporation in the year 2000. The script is anchored in the philosophies of 16th century Dominican priests, Bartolome de las Casas and Antonio Montesinos, the first opposition voices of conscience against the Columbus invasion and European empire in the Americas. With ample irony, EVEN THE RAIN (También la Lluvia) explores the effects of imperialism, still resonating some 500 years later, in the continuing struggle of indigenous peoples.
